The momentary perch of the sparrow is a visitation. Within a few feet of me is a being that lives in the same world, but in a totally different way. For a few instances, we share space and elevation. For a moment I can be astonished by its beauty, the patterns of its feathers, how incredibly organized it is in its entirety. The precision of its form. And then as quickly it is gone, tracing an impossible path, an escape route to an entirely different place, which may only be a few feet away.
Passer is a body of paintings and writing currently in development. A selection of these paintings is currently on display at Waffles in Chicago.
