Tea & Contemplation

Tea & Contemplation is a practice space for building a personal introspection practice, with tea + yogic philosophy as our guide.

We’re here for anyone who is curious about meditation and is craving quiet thinking time and space to process emotions.

Join us live on Zoom every Friday, 8am-9am CST for communal practice.

OR…

Tune into our podcast for practice anytime that works for you!

Each session includes guided meditation and themed discussion. So this is truly a place to physically *DO* your practice, in real time with guidance, not just conceptually study the idea of meditation or mindfulness in order to replicate later.

SEPTEMBER 2021:
NOURISHING ENERGY

Our sense of energy is so dynamic. At times we may feel full of a zest for life, brimming with vitality, and at other times we might find that, despite eating well and getting plenty of sleep, we can't seem to escape a feeling of depletion and exhaustion. Clearly, energy is a complex field, and in this month's sessions, we'll explore how we can navigate it skillfully.

September 3: Drawing Energy

Is energy magic? An unknowable force, beyond our control? Probably. But, our relationship to it is something that we can assess, tweak, and notice tangible results. Let's talk about how we build energy and draw nourishment into our being.

September 10: Fields to Tend

Our heart-minds are capable of holding a seemingly infinite array of subjects, feelings, and thoughts. What responsibility do we have to ourselves to edit, streamline, and focus our attention? Within the field of our awareness, what are we holding close, what are growing, and what needs to be released?

September 17: What Are You Harvesting?

It sometimes feels as though our present experience is the inevitable result of circumstances, but the truth may be more slippery. What role are we playing in what is arising within us, as us?

September 24: Can You Share?

This session will be guided by our phenomenal friend Jessica Young. Do we have the capacity to offer nourishment to others? And if we do, how might we go about fostering each other's energetic nourishment?

Drop in on any of our sessions (sliding scale), or purchase a month subscription for $40.

This is our exploration this month. Pull up some good tea and join us. Payment is sliding scale, with half of the proceeds going to my brilliant collaborator Sooz.

About Tea & Contemplation

SESSION STRUCTURE:

We start each session with a guided slow tea meditation by Sooz, then a personal sharing / discussion from Adam on the session’s theme and how we turn our practice into an ever-growing coping toolbox.

Tea & Contemplation is specifically designed to work with whatever tea you may have available already at home.

If you’re joining us for the live session, we also hold space for group sharing / healing circle after the guided practice, for community support. (** this portion is not recorded **)

PREPARING THE TEA:

We use the bowl method, a versatile and very accessible traditional method for enjoying tea, for every session.

Just a pinch of loose leaf tea + hot water in an open mug or small bowl with no strainer necessary. (This appears on the podcast cover art.)

We brew tea together during the session in real time, so simply just have your kettle heating just before you come sit down for practice and you’ll be all set.

No pre-requisite study of either tea or formal meditation is needed to begin. Everything is guided and very beginner friendly. Come as you are in this moment.
